Leighton's 2nd birthday

On his actual birthday we just did a small Mommy, daddy, Leighton celebration. His big party was planned for the following Saturday, as was his big cake but we got him a slice of cake to fill in for the actual day.

 

He was more excited about the car on the top, a new disney "Cars" character car "Hudson Hornet". He is very into cars right now and we love collecting the matchbox size "Cars movie " cars. This was a great addition to our collection!

 

I love to do Chocolater cake for a messy eater it look so great in pictures. The difference this year is that he is using a fork!! Leighton enjoyed his small slice of chocolate cake and then it was bath and bed for our new two yr old.

 

 

It now feels different and like a switch has turned on inside him, he is definitely a two yr old, wild boy!! He is twice as active, which means now we are implementing our time out mat(works great), and even though this started back in the end of January he is sleeping in a twin big boy bed!! Another great thing about being two is that he is talking so much more and cleary showing preferences for things which makes my job easier. I love all the communicating and emotion he shows and how he is starting to understand the "why" behind the "no" sometimes. Along with that the tantrums are worse/have arrived, but we are able to keep them at bay most the time, and when we can't time out is working great.

At two years old he is a super skinny guy only tipping the scales at ...23lbs yess i know but he is super active and a dainty eater and no the dr. is not concerned. He is 34 inches tall again on the smaller side, the 25%. We couldn't be more proud of Leighton and he is the center of our worlds but very soon this will change and he will be sharing the spotlight with baby O!
