Who does Leighton Look Like???

Well, I finally got around to scanning some of our old baby pics for everyone to compare features of Than Leighton and I. Up to date people have said he was pure Hathaway features, I keep trying to defend a mixture. So here you go.....

This is the only baby picture of Than that I have I believe he is 8 or 9 mths (above). The picture of Leighton(bottom) and I (middle) were both taken at 5 mths.

Although he has Than's eye color and hair line I think the facial features are pretty much from my side, what do ya think??? Chubby cheeks, lips and nose??

Leighton stats!

After reading Annie's Blog earlier, I realized that we haven't put Leighton's Stats up.....EVER???? (What first timers) Anyway we just finally had his 6 month appointment at 7 months!! Our pedi office is really slammed and only have 2 dr. right now for the entire base making the wait for a well baby appt like 6 weeks or more!!!

As of his last check on October the 10th he was 27 1/4 inches tall (75%) and he weighed 16 lbs 10 oz (19%). I was shocked to see his weight so low, b/c he eats like a horse all day long, I was even concerned I might be overstuffing him? Well when the dr. asked us if he eats I was a little embaressed and really confused, since we are eating solids 3 times a day, nursing all day, and even drinking one formula bottle per day also?

He activity level has increased alot and he has been crawling for just over a week now! He is really getting around especially if there is a shoe nearby that he can put into his mouth ;) He also has been pulling up on things since before he started crawling. He is almost ready to start taking steps and will with help. I was an eighth month walker so maybe he is taking after mommy ;)

Yesterday, our luck ran out and it was finally his turn to get sick :( I almost felt like the dr. was laughing at me saying Mrs. Hathaway congrats its only a cold! I was trying to be proactive and get him some relief from the faucet formally known as his nose and also he hasn't been sleeping well. It is just going around and with the first cold front of the season, it was just our turn. Like I said our pedi office is really overbooked and understaffed so I had to get sent out to an urgent care place. There we were with the sniffles in a crowd of children with high fevers or other serious issues. The dr. thought I was silly but atleast we got some medicine and Leighton slept so much better lastnight, he is feeling much better today!

I'll will post crawling pictures soon!

We Love Halloween!!

We love Halloween. Need I say more? We don't really have pumpkin patches in South Texas, so when the church around the corner set up their own "pumpkin patch" we jumped at the chance to get over there and take advantage. We rushed over after Than got home from work to snap a few pictures in Leighton's cute Fall outfit. We made a quick change in the car and put on his "little Stinker" costume to get a few pictures of his first costume.
I think he likes Halloween as much as we do! What a cutie pie!!

Fun at the Beach!

Since Leighton started sitting up on his own, we've been meaning to get him back to the beach. We brought his water taxi to contain him - he loves driving through the dunes!

Leighton's stacking cups are another of his favorite toys. It's so funny how the simplest things are their favorites.

Happy Half Birthday!

Leighton is such a sweet boy, we decided we didn't want to wait a whole year to celebrate with him. So we baked half a cake and got a gift or two. Little did we know that our kiddo would get so excited about opening presents!

Can you see the anticipation? He was so focused on his present, we have never seen him this excited!
Of course, it must be tasted first...

How did that bow get there?
Pablo has his attention - good thing since there is a big ol' cake within arms' reach!Every time Pablo sings, he goes nuts! It is so funny!

Leighton loves Pablo! He likes to show it by angily devouring his face!

Playtime at Home!

This is one of Leighton's favorite toys. All the "bells 'n whistles" keep him busy for long periods of time - this is the toy we like to take with us to the mall and out shopping. It squeeks, has beads, crinkle parts, bright colors, and even a baby alongside! Great toy.
This is what we call the "mission impossible" position. He's smiling here, but usually this is the point where he gets frustrated trying to crawl and starts to fuss.
That big ol' Hathaway head is a lot of work to hold upright all day long. Here, Leighton is taking a little break from all that effort. (Seriously though, we usually put clothes on him even though so many of his pictures are half naked)

Rough Life as a Baby Hathaway

Here, Leighton is playing with his usual assortment of toys on the living room floor. This is where he spends most of his time. There's lots to do: learn how to sit up on his own, practice crawling, put lots of stuff in his mouth, call girlfriends on his toy phone, etc. Rough life.
Leighton is so advanced: here, he got ahold of our camera and took a self portrait. (Just kidding, but that's what it looks like!) So handsome!
Some more of Leighton's friends: the Backyardigans! This is definitely his favorite show. He gets really excited when he sees his favorite character Pablo the penguin. He loves the music and dancing.

TOESUCKER!

Feet are so much fun! And they taste good too!
Leighton really enjoys sucking on his big toe - his feet were his best friends for a while.

Buttercup is also one of Leighton's best buddies. Here she is licking Leighton's feet with him.

Pacifiers and Messy Meals

Here are a couple pictures of our cutie pie with his pacifier of the day.
CHEESER! This is the messiest meal we've had yet. It was in his hair, behind his ears, all over his face (as you can clearly see) and all over the high chair. He needed a bath after this meal it was so messy! We're not about to bathe him every time he eats, so we've gotten much better about controlling the chaos at mealtime!

The Escape Artist

Some pictures of our little escape artist:
Leighton's road to freedom started when he decided his bouncer was just not big enough for him anymore. Once he figured out that he could arch his back / squirm out the bottom, it was all over. Here he's caught in the act!
More of Leighton's cute PJs!

Leighton before he made his "great escape." The hands are a dead giveaway that he wants out!
