JUNE 25, 2007 FIRST SWIM IN A REAL POOL

It was a great day so we decided to go for a swim at my cousin's apartment pool. Than was flying that afternoon so we had some mommy and me time. At first he seemed very anxious and a little cold but then he got used to it and in the sun the water was warmer. Again in his sunhat and the tiny board shorts such a cutie I had to steal a kiss.
We only swam around for like ten minutes and I was so nervous b/c he was so slippery maybe it was the sunscreen. Either way I had a death grip on him and we stayed right here at this tiny ledge so I could set him there rather than having to hold him in the open water.
This has to be my favorite picture of us up to date. I just chopped my hair off the wednesday before this was taken it was like 12 inches off! I donated it to a little girl who has cancer from my salon they are collecting hair to make her a wig. I love my short hair so simple now and so much less time and so much cooler in our outrageous temps.
After our pool time I changed him into his Dino towel this thing is so worth the money it is great for just this sort of thing it warmed him up quick and was almost like a blanket for the nap he took right after swimming. It must have worn him out. He has his monkey toes hanging out on the tray of the stroller. Now- a -days he can't seem to keep his feet off anything he is always kicking and pushing. Now wonder I could hear my ribs pop during pregnancy.
A closer view of him learning about stuff checking out his stroller and his hand. What a sweet boy!

Happy Father's Day 2007

After breakfast on father's day we decided to head out to the beach. We were hoping that our first Father's day would be better than our first mother's day(if you missed it refer to post) we were wrong! We couldn't find anywhere to park, the sand was very soft didn't want to get the car stuck, and like so many other days it was way to windy. After chasing the umbrella across the road(cyndi 2,Than 1)a few times we had to give up just too windy. Then all was great the water was wonderful, but then Leighton leaned to far in daddy's lap and bumped his face on the metal part of the beach chair!
It was so sad he was crying and we felt bad we just hoped he wasn't going to get a black eye. It felt like it happened in slow-mow. His large Hathaway head makes him top-heavy. :( Just at a very wobbly stage right now. He was also very fussy all day you can tell in this picture he is upset before he ever bumped his face. He just isn't a big fan of the sun hats, they make him grouchy. We barely made it through church that morning he was so moody.
Look how large his feet are and notice his onesize, it says "Caution will eat sand" Thanks to Merrill and Patty for sending it perfect for our beach trips. This was the third trip to the beach Leighton has made.

When we got home I decided that since I already had my swim suit on and he needed a bath that now would be a great time to put him in the real tub for a lil swim/bath. It was so fun although I think he might have had a poopy diaper or let a little go in the tub b/c there was a strange something floating in the water?????LEIGHTON! By the end of the bath all was good and he was ok some tylenol made him feel even better and off to sleep. In the morning his bump had gone down and he was a different baby. Overall a ruff first father's day for both my Hathaway guys :(

WHAT A HANDSOME BOY!

He is never this calm during bath time but he looks like he was in deep baby thoughts. This was the first time he actually sat in the tub part full of water rather than just the hammock part, where he usually justs gets a sponge bath. He really seemed to enjoy the warm water playtime. I think his features are a perfect mix of the both of us right down the middle, Than's head, hair line, not sure whose shade of red yet but brighter than Than's, my lips, cheeks, and eye shape , also the nose is from my side, but definitely Than's blue eyes!

We are working on getting him to enjoy some tummy play he hasn't really cared much to do this it really makes him upset when we try so we haven't done it that much. Determined to hit every mark, as good parents we buckled down and gave it another try, and guess what he likes it now and lasts almost a whole 5-7 min as opposed to the barely 60 sec before. Here he is wondering how he can get to the winnie pooh on the edge of the quilt. We are hoping he will figure it out soon, he is trying to use his toes to push already but hasn't quite got the balance and arm concept at all yet. By the way the quilt he is laying on was given to us at my shower by my Aunt Amanda she did a great job with it.
