pregnancy summary

ok so we are super late starting our blog but some of our pregnancy pics were super fun so i thought we would post them for people to see even tho the lil man is already here! wish we could have done it at it all was happening but you know how that goes never enough time in the day. anyhow so here it is!

First Few Days

YEA! HE IS HERE!
WOW! My life is changed now forever I am a mom and until now never could imagine how you could love something so much. Everything is changed he is only3 days old and already i feel like a different person I am so in love with the new man in my life and watching Than with him its all i can do to keep from crying. He was born on Sunday, march 11 @ 3:24 pm my pregnancy and delivery experience could have not been any better! My body did all the things it was supposed to do and my labor worked out exactly as i hoped it would I almost feel a lil spoiled. after playing a game of red light, green light with early labor for around 3 days we arrived at the hospital at 5cm, 100% effaced and 0 station, i got my epidual between 6-7cm. after that it was a cake walk I honestly almost felt it was to easy so to all the ladies who went w/o the drugs YOU ARE ONE TUFF COOKIE! and deserve an award; unless you chose to forego the drugs then you need to have a psychatric evaluation b/c they don't call it labor for nothing! The staff was great and very helpful and i am pretty sure I got lucky with having a fairly calm child. I am still waiting for days that i can't stop crying, sweating, and remember if i brushed my teeth or have eaten a meal in under 4 min but for now everything is so wonderful.

Leighton is a champion sleeper so far letting mommy and daddy sleep atleast 3.5 hours at a time through the night and during the day we have formed a good schedule of nursing every 2 hours, burping, changing, stimulating him(play time) and then his napping inbetween. Even though today is only day 3 we have a good routine with him, he is even waking up almost like clock work to nurse some of the times. Together he and I have formed a pretty good nursing team for first timers and with daddy there as our support system we are usually able to latch on quickly and nurse a full time on both sides. So far Than and I feel like the natural skills of "rearing children" have kicked in and it is great! i am managing to do things I had no idea i could and how natural he feels in my arms as opposed to holding someone else's baby and being terrified of doing something wrong.

In addition to skills we didn't know we had, we are doing things that we never thought we would do like eating in under 5 minutes, today i ate breakfast so fast i think my fork left skid marks! also I dropped a pastry on the kitchen floor, it landed on one of the dogs nasty-est stuffed toys, a stuffed squirrel covered in hair and dirt, this situation was way beyond the 10 sec. rule but i had wanted that pastry for a week so all my hesitation went out the window and i ate it anyway!!! Boy was it tasty!!!! it was't until the day after that i fessed up to Than that the dog toy had been involved , the toy its really smelly also sorry to leave that out! So Than's new adjustment is running on very lil sleep and he is doing super great! Anyone who knows my husband knows he loves his sleep and isn't very good w/o it he also needs alot of it, as opposed to me who enjoys my sleep but can run on very lil; anyhow he is doing so good at the lil sleeping shifts that have been necessary! My recovering is great i did get a big E but surprisingly it doesn't bother me in fact the baby has already been to the grocery store, walmart and target for some quick supplies. Wonder if he loves shopping as much as mommy does? we are hoping for a short stroll around the block later if the sun comes out, but we will have to see.

our too other quadra-ped children(dogs) are handling the baby very well also, in fact buttercup thinks that he is her baby and loves to be close to him we were barely home 10 min and after a couple quick peeks at him she came back for a third and one quick lick on his head. before i could shoo her away she dashed off, I guess that was her stamp of approval and welcome home kiss all in one. since then she is laying near him and sits at my feel while nursing and in the same room as he is the whole time.

So i guess to sum this all up I can't believe that it was so little work for such a huge reward at the end, everyone was right about stuff just coming naturally and we are all great and looing forward to every minute, trying not to let one pass us by b/c we know how quick things are gonna change!

Thanks for all the help advice and sharing in our excitement!
